How to Get Started
Learning Tai Chi is a life-long journey.
The more you practice, the more you discover something new; something new about Tai Chi, but more importantly, something new about yourself.
Tai Chi is one of the best self-realization and healing tool that you can use daily in your life.
Once you start to practice Tai Chi, you will notice Tai Chi is much more than just following the “form”. On this site, I intend to share practical practice you can do to transform your life using Tai Chi concepts and exercise. Tai Chi is a tool box for your life. You can either use it or lose it.
In order to learn the form properly, I recommend you find Tai Chi class that fits you. Trust your instinct. When you meet the right teacher or studio, you will know. You may bump into the place just because you put your intention out - or you may need to visit multiple studios. Whichever the case may be, enjoy this process as well. Once you are in this seeking mode, you are already in the process of Tai Chi. Take this as a part of the journey of expanding your circle of energy. Click here for guide to your first Tai Chi class. If you cannot find any class locally, DVD or online video may be the next best option. I hope to add some video tutorials on this site in the future to share what I learned from my fabulous teachers.
Some of my own recommendation about learning Tai Chi:
Intention:
Have clarity in your intent when you do Tai Chi. Set intention before starting Tai Chi. Your intent will change depending on what you are working in your life.
Life Practice:
Take on Tai Chi as a life practice. Tai Chi will transform you from cellular level, but it takes time to change your habit you accumulated in your life. Be patient.
Engage fully:
Pay attention to what you are feeling emotionally, physically, energetically, and mentally. When you notice yourself just “doing” the movements, stop and breathe. If you are just moving without your internal energy connected, you are just exercising.
Life Tool:
Tai Chi can be practiced in your life. The forms are amazing, but practicing philosophy or posture your learned through Tai Chi in your life will open a whole new world for you.
Be present:
Put your all into whatever you are doing at the moment. Let go of your anticipation or expectations. Once you get the hang of it in Tai Chi practice, you can bring this presence in every aspect of your life.
